2006-Fripp & Eno "Beyond Even" 1992-2006

In 1975, Brian Eno released his epochal Discreet Music replete with an ambient music manifesto as well as a diagram making explicit the system he used-- a sort of rudimentary analog phase machine-- to create the record. If Discreet Music demonstrated the aural wallpaper aspect of the system of overlapping loops (legend has it hospitals regularly piped in the LP during childbirth), Eno's earlier experiments with guitarist Robert Fripp were somewhat less, well, discreet. In fact, in a lot of ways the equally epochal Fripp/Eno albums No Pussyfooting (1973) and Evening Star (1975) brought ambient music firmly to the foreground.

Fripp & Eno "The essential Fripp & Eno" (1994)

This compilation of the recorded collaborations between guitarist Robert Fripp and producer/conceptualist/musician Brian Eno is taken from two album-length recordings made for the Island subsidiary Antilles in 1974 and 1975, No Pussyfooting and Evening Star, with an unreleased 1979 session added on. "The Heavenly Music Corporation" and "Swastika Girls," totaling 39 minutes, make up the whole of No Pussyfooting. Both of these pieces are slowly evolving reel-to-reel tape experiences that are hypnotic and remain revelatory decades later. "Wind on Water" and "Evening Star" account for half of the latter album's first side; they are easily the two most beautiful and "melodic" cuts issued by the pair.

Fripp & Eno "The Equatorial Stars" (2004)

While the technology was, in retrospect, remarkably simple, guitarist Robert Fripp, best known for his work with the perennial King Crimson, and synthesist/producer Brian Eno literally invented a new musical form when they hooked up two Revox reel-to-reel tape recorders in '73, allowing Fripp to layer an almost infinite number of loops to create a groundbreaking technique called Frippertronics. On '73's No Pussyfooting and the '75 follow-up, the more sublime Evening Star , Fripp truly developed the orchestral possibilities of the guitar, while Eno's studio finesse coaxed the sounds into hitherto unheard of aural landscapes

Fripp & Eno "Evening Star" (1975)

Evening Star es un álbum de Brian Eno y Robert Fripp publicado en 1975. Constituye la primera colaboración entre Brian Eno y Robert Fripp, grabada en tres sesiones. La primera está fechada el 8 de septiembre de 1972 y la segunda y tercera el 4 y 5 de agosto de 1973 respectivamente. De la primera sesión se extrae el corte "The Heavenly Music Corporation", una manipulación del sonido de guitarra improvisado de Robert Fripp a través de dos magnetófonos Revox que se retroalimentaban mutuamente.
