King Crimson ofrecen gratis su segundo álbum, 'In The Wake of Poseidon', en su 'Expanded Edition'Se trata de una versión expandida con temas extras. En concreto, si el disco original contenía 8 cortes, ahora se incluyen 3 más: 'Cat Food (Single Version)', 'Groon (Single B-Side)' y 'Cadence And Cascade (Greg Lake Guide Vocal)'.

Es un tema más que la que ofrecía la edición del 30º aniversario, con 10 cortes, pero sin el último citado, 'Cadence And Cascade (Greg Lake Guide Vocal)'.

'In The Wake of Poseidon' contó como ingeniero de sonido con Robin Thompson. Se grabó en los estudios Wessex Sound de Londres y las letras y la portada fueron obra de su habitual colaborador Peter Sinfield, casi considerado un miembro del grupo.

Recientemente, Crimson lanzaron también gratis su mítico álbum 'In The Court of the Crimson King' en su versión 'Expanded Edition':

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, King Crimson are releasing 50 rare or unusual tracks from the archives. Starting on 13th January, the date the band was formed in the Fulham Palace Café in 1969, these tracks will be released one a week for the remaining 50 weeks of 2019. Each track will be introduced by a commentary from David Singleton, King Crimson manager and producer.

In the Wake of Poseidon.The album was re-released in 2010 with a near-complete new stereo mix by Steven Wilson and Robert Fripp as part of the 40th Anniversary release sequence. As tape for one track, "The Devil's Triangle", could not be located, the original stereo was included instead. The CD also includes a new mix of "Groon" ("Cat Food"'s B-side), an alternate take of "Peace – An End", and Greg Lake's guide vocal take of "Cadence and Cascade".

La inmensidad del material presentado en el Box Set "Sailor's Tales" abarca la era de la banda desde "In The Wake Of Poseidon", pasando por "Lizard", el "Islands", y terminando con el gran disco grabado en vivo llamado "Earthbound" de 1972.Es casi hasta lógico pensar que después de la tremenda formación que presenta una de las alineaciones más reconocibles de la banda, con Robert Fripp, John Wetton, Bill Bruford, Jamie Muir y David Cross, las alineaciones que anteceden al álbum "Larks' Tongues in Aspic" antes de 1973 hayan quedado eclipsadas por tremendisimos músicos y devastadores álbumes.

El nombre King Crimson es un sinónimo de Beelzebub, que proviene del árabe B´ il Sabab, que quiere decir “el hombre con un propósito”.

Si este disco no fuera el segundo de King Crimson, si no existiera In the Court of the Crimson King, si su primera canción fuera el grito de guerra hiriente que es Schizoid Man, otro gallo le cantaría. Pero siempre es saludado como la continuación, la secuela, el suma y sigue e incluso el plagio del primero. Craso error.......

Considered a poor cousin to In the Court of the Crimson King (DGM Live, 1969), 1970's In the Wake of Poseidon may possess superficial similarities to its groundbreaking predecessor, but as a 2005 All About Jazz review of an earlier edition suggested, ..."Poseidon also hints of changes in the wind." Part of the second round of 40th Anniversary Series CD/DVDA remasters/expansions of the King Crimson catalog along with 1971's Islands, Poseidon deserves reconsideration for its transitional music, Porcupine Tree founder Steven Wilson's remarkable remixes, and 50 minutes of bonus material which sheds light on the recording process.
