When King Crimson appeared in Chesterfield, the recording of their album had been completed though some post-production work was still being undertaken. The album however was still a month away from being released. So outside of a couple of appearances on BBC Radio 1, and word of mouth, the audience would have had little idea of what to expect at Crimson concert.

The 12th Collectors' Club release (Originally scheduled for August, 2000). From the legenday free concert headlined by the Rolling Stones, in Hyde Park, London in 1969. "It would sound blasé to say that this was just another gig for us, though in a sense it was; we were having a great time discovering and enjoying our music, but we were also experienced enough individually not to be too greatly affected by any particular venue.

King Crimson "The Fulham Palace Road Cafe" - Celebrating 50 Years

On the evening of Monday January 13th, 1969, King Crimson formally began rehearsals in the basement of the Fulham Palace Road Cafe. After hauling their equipment down the stairs into their cramped rehearsal room Greg Lake, Ian McDonald, Michael Giles, Robert Fripp plugged in their instruments, and with Peter Sinfield operating lights and sound, played and worked on material for the next hour and a half.

Siempre será imposible saber cómo hubiéramos respondido ante este disco cuando se publicó originariamente en 1969: qué hubiéramos pensado al encontrar esta portada en la tienda, oír por primera vez el disco entero (Schizoid Man y después todo lo demás...), compararlo con lo que se publicaba entonces... Imposible. Por ello, nuestras reacciones ante este disco nunca podrán ser “originales”. Lástima. -No descubrimos King Crimson por Schizoid Man, ni por esta canción en estaversión original, y siempre nos agradaron más otras canciones que éstas. Otra vez: lástima. 

Giles & Giles and Fripp "The Brondesbury Tapes " (1968)

Originally formed as a trio (Robert Fripp on guitar, Michael Giles on drums and vocals, and Peter Giles on bass and vocals) in Bournemouth, UK, in September 1967. Around June 1968, they were joined by Judy Dyble on vocals (only for about a month), and Ian McDonald on sax, keyboards and vocals. As a quintet they made several home recordings, including the later much-appraised “I Talk To The Wind”. In their time, Giles Giles and Fripp managed to release one full album and two singles, which didn’t sell well yet were considered quite interesting by the then music press. Between November 1968 and January 1969, the remaining members (omitting Peter Giles) were joined by Greg Lake, and later by roadie Peter Sinfield, and changed their name to King Crimson.

The Cheerful Insanity of Giles, Giles and Fripp is a 1968 album from the English group Giles, Giles and Fripp. The United States LP had a different cover than the original UK version.

The music shows a mix of pop, psychedelic rock, folk, and classical, influences. In addition to 13 songs, the album contains two comedic spoken word pieces, "The Saga of Rodney Toady" and "Just George", which are interspersed between the songs.

Mcdonald & Giles (1971)

Ian McDonald y Michael Giles,junto con Robert Fripp miembros fundadores de King Crimson...estuvieron presentes en el genial álbum debut de la banda "In The Court Of The Crimson King" (1969) y dejaron el grupo tras la primera gira americana, aunque Giles aparecería en los créditos de su segundo álbum "In The Wake Of Poseidon" (1970), como músico de sesión...

Si este disco no fuera el segundo de King Crimson, si no existiera In the Court of the Crimson King, si su primera canción fuera el grito de guerra hiriente que es Schizoid Man, otro gallo le cantaría. Pero siempre es saludado como la continuación, la secuela, el suma y sigue e incluso el plagio del primero. Craso error.......
