En este día, hace 39 años, King Crimson lanzó Discipline. Una desviación radical de todo lo lanzado anteriormente bajo la bandera de KC, contó con Adrian Belew, Bill Bruford, Tony Levin y Robert Fripp y reinventó King Crimson para la década de 1980 generando material clásico que se convertiría en elementos básicos de la lista de canciones de KC durante las próximas décadas.

King Crimson publicó Red el 6 de octubre de 1974, su séptimo álbum que fue grabado en los Olympic Studios de West London. Hasta ese momento, la agrupación de Robert Fripp había materializado un total de siete entregas en un periodo de cinco años desde In the Court of the Crimson King (1969), además de que ya se había consolidado como la primera banda en hacer un disco de rock progresivo.

Starting on 13th January, the date the band was formed in the Fulham Palace Café in 1969, these tracks will be released one a week for the remaining 50 weeks of 2019. Each track will be introduced by a commentary from David Singleton, King Crimson manager and producer.

Sometimes the best music—and some of the best bands—are those that come from the most difficult of births. When King Crimson co-founder/guitarist Robert Fripp had the idea for a new band after dissolving the last incarnation of the '70s-era Crimson lineups seven years prior, it was a completely new concept and, with the exception of returning drummer Bill Bruford, a totally revised lineup.
